Gold hits 8 year At $1800 range

Gold hit 8-year peak on Wednesday with spot gold at its highest since early October 2012 (at $1,788.96) after gold futures settled above $1,800 an ounce in the previous session, the first close above that threshold since 2011.

A bit of the shine came off the yellow metal with the just released ADP employment report. While June’s private payrolls rose by 2.369 million in June, slightly missing the forecast 2.5 million estimate from economists, the surprising news was in the revised number from the previous month. May had a shocking turnaround, vaulting from the initial reported loss of 2.76 million to a gain of 3.065 million.
